Betsy is a passionate artist whose life is reflected through her creative work as a performer and a writer.
She grew up in a musical family in the Midwest and Maryland and started singing at a very young age. At twelve, she sang in the band, The Fruit-gift Four, with her dad, a Dixieland jazz pianist, and her two younger brothers. Her influences include jazz, pop, R & B, Dixieland jazz and her beloved Broadway musicals.
After graduating from The Boston Conservatory, Betsy moved to NYC and started her professional stage career. She has performed on Broadway and at regional theatres across the country. She has sung with symphony orchestras, in cabarets and in countless benefits raising money for worthy causes.
Betsy started writing lyrics and plays when she was pregnant with her first daughter and has continued writing, performing and directing ever since. Finding creative outlets while raising two daughters has been a fascinating and rewarding journey. Her plays and songs have been performed in New York and Los Angeles.
In 2010, she fulfilled a life-long dream of reuniting with her two brothers in a band. Calling it The Moody Trues, Betsy and her brothers performed a benefit concert to a sold-out house that raised over $7000.00 for an arts program at North Star Charter School in Newark, NJ. Chrysalis marks Betsy’s debut recording as a singer-songwriter.
